| This is actually something I've seen on very successful RP communities before. Basically, any major action taken by an admin or moderator gets logged. Things like bans, warnings, map and content updates, rules changes, operator rank promotions and demotions, special character and NPC submissions, etc.
It's a nice and simple way of keeping the community informed, and I believe that transparency is one of the cornerstones to successful communities. Accountability is another. I'm posting this as a public topic and not as a direct message to Legion or Quads to 1.) show what this kind of transparency would look like, and 2.) get community feedback on the idea.
What do you guys think? Would you like to see precisely what the admin team is doing with the community and the technical side of the server? Would you like to stay informed of when map changes are made, and why they were made?
This is hopefully what it would look like: http://www.cerberusdailynews.com/cdn/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=93

| The thing is... Do we actually need it? I mean, we know each other from previous servers and else. Also, there's no way to abuse in MERP, because you don't have to collect scripted items or things like that. All the community needs is the character applications and just the rosters (staff, species, etc.). I think we are good as we are for now. | |

There have been far too many instances in the past of player confusion, poor communication and general chaos cacophonies. Far too frequently players are asking, both IC and OOC, "What are we doing? Why did the map change? Why did this person get promoted? Why is this person expelled from the ship?" And they're not getting the answers they need because no one else knows what's going on. I've been on the receiving end of this. I can tell you it's not fun, and it does not lead to harmonious cohesion. It doesn't lead to a fun experience, for anyone involved. And yes, we do know each other from past servers. It is part of the reason I'm suggesting implementing this system, to make sure we don't repeat the mistakes of past servers. I want staff transparency.

| I'm in favor of this to be honest. Shows exactly what is happening, and shows trust aswell between staff and players. It doesn't need to be full on word for word on what happened, but even just a state and explain format would suffice.
Cool suggestion Crystal! :D

| Yet, 80% of what is going on going to be behind the iron curtains. So, no, my opinion is, that we don't need all this windows dressing. | |
